Business Update 004: The Mission
Hey everyone,
This week, I wanted to share with you the official Mission Statement of Crowd Card:
Creating the world’s best platform for fans to judge sporting events.
It’s really that simple. I want to build software that gives fans a voice in judgement-based sporting events. I want to build a platform that fans want to use - one that enhances their experience as a sports fan. Although I’m starting with combat sports, I plan to expand to other judgment-based events (e.g., gymnastics, diving, figure skating, etc.) in the future.
Development Updates
Here are a few quick updates on development:
Admin portal: I made very solid progress on the admin portal last weekend and am continuing to move toward launching the MVP by the end of January. So far, the hardest part has been learning the ins-and-outs of Laravel, but I’m getting the hang of it. Although the learning curve is relatively steep, Laravel is much better than writing everything from scratch.
iOS: The iOS app - at least what I envision as the MVP - is more or less fully designed. I used Figma to design app views and user flows. I’m sure I will make changes to the design as I actually build the app, but it’s nice to have a general idea of how things will look from a high-level perspective.
Web app: Although I don’t plan to start work on the Crowd Card web app until iOS launches, I can’t help but think a bit about it while I build the admin portal web application. Learning Laravel by building the admin portal is going to be extremely helpful when development on the Crowd Card web app begins - I’m really looking forward to it.
Coming Up
Aside from development, I am currently drafting Crowd Card’s operating principles. These will serve as guiding principles for the company. I hope to share these in next week’s blog. As with everything else, I am sure they will evolve over time.
I’ve made several vlogs, but have yet to post any of them. I’m still not quite sure how I’d like to approach the vlog - do I post them on YouTube? Do I post them on X? Do I run them live, or film, edit, and upload? Should I post them daily or wait until the end of the week to post all of them? This is a work in progress and I’m reaching out to several podcasting friends for advice. As always, if you have any advice / feedback, please feel free to share.
Okay back to work.
